Here at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, we currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Central Support Manager to join the team. The Forth Valley Royal Hospital has beds and covers a single site of approximately , square metres. The Central Support Department will operate hours a day 7 days per week. The post holder will be expected to cover the helpdesk during normal working hours. The post holder will deal with the allocation of Estates tasks arising from helpdesk requests, audit reports and other adhoc requests.

In this role you will be a key member of the Portering and Logistics Team, working closely with the Central Support Manager, ensuring needs are met on all aspects of the Portering, Waste, Linen, Reception, Switchboard and Helpdesk Services. The main responsibilities include Customer relationship building, management of customer expectations, problem solving and dispute resolution at all levels.

You will provide feedback to the team in relation to their performance and service levels, you will also be responsible for the strategic planning and delivery of services and will support the Central Support Manager in managing the departmental budget.

Main accountabilities:

  • Support the Central Support Manager and be accountable for and management of budget, making decisions relating to quality of service delivery and other factors.
  • Monitor operational issues and manage working procedures to optimise the staff allocation.
  • Maintain all required records and paperwork and the authorisation of payroll data.
  • The role also includes the management of a large group of staff and Team Leaders and will require the implementation of the full range of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Investigating and assessing serious disciplinary cases.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all staff are inducted, trained and have annual appraisals completed.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with departmental managers in developing the service to meet their requirements.
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff in all departments.
  • What you’ll need to do the role:

  • Educated to a Diploma, working towards Degree Level [or equivalent experience]
  • NVQ Level 2 in relevant Health and Safety subject.
  • Basic Certificate in Health and Safety NVQ Level 2 in supervisory management.
  • Experience in customer care development through significant experience working
  • within a large public sector organisation ideally the care environment.
  • The previous management of a large team of staff including a responsibility for
  • absence, performance, recruitment and performance etc or having a regular
  • involvement at a supervisory level.
  • IT literate – Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of fire safety regulations
  • Knowledge of lifting and handling procedures
  • You will ideally have practical experience of conducting quality audits to monitor client/ customer satisfaction.

    The accumulation of the above will require several years experience at a middle management level to achieve and will have include a significant responsibility and authority to manage a service autonomously
