Your dream role:

An exciting opportunity for an ambitious Procurement Engineer to join our successful, international business.

Drive strategic growth and support with the transition from diesel to zero emission propulsion.

Lead cost reduction and VA/VE projects, delivering improvements in line with specific targets.

Develop detailed knowledge and understanding of supplier manufacturing and sourcing processes used to produce specific materials and commodities. Influence and optimise cost and quality.

Identify key cost drivers in powertrain, sub-systems and component commodities. Develop action plans to optimise product costs accordingly.

Provide technical expertise on specific materials and commodities by liaising closely with vehicle design engineering on system integration of these materials and commodities.

Ensure supplier specification and drawing controls for specified commodities.

Ensure part number addition and change control approval for specified commodities.

Provide technical approval input for supplier selection, ensuring Principal Engineer approval.

Provide estimate costs at early stages of product design and development.

Opportunities like this don’t come along often – you will have exposure to a wide range of projects and senior stakeholders globally.

What you will bring:

Ambitious, with a desire to apply your technical skills in a more commercial setting.

Degree qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent), along with experience of zero emission products, such as high voltage batteries, motors and power electronics. A project management qualification would be advantageous.

Cost reduction, value analysis and value engineering skills to increase the competitiveness and profitability of our products.

Able to solve complex problems that are require a unique skill of understanding technical challenges and their commercial implications for both the short and long term.

Highly numerate and commercially minded whilst having a strong technical understanding of current and future powertrain technology.

Highly IT literate and comfortable with various of apps and software, including MS office.

Demonstrate strategic thinking and the ability to manage the change process.

Ability to develop long-standing relationships internally as well as with suppliers.

Focused on business improvement and working within a team to deliver on our grand goals.

Strong negotiation skills with proven ability to navigate competing objectives and reach an intelligent compromise

Flexible to travel to other Alexander Dennis sites and suppliers as and when required.
