The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team here at Grahams Road Vets, Falkirk!

Duties include consultations, radiographs, laboratory work, anaesthetics, stock control, equipment maintenance, assisting student nurses and much more. The candidate would be responsible in all these duties alongside 3 other RVNS.

The days /shifts worked per week are negotiable. Currently there are two different shift patterns worked between the 3 nurses. Two of the nurses are on a 5-day working week with 1 half day every week and other nurse is on a 4-day week with slightly longer hours per day with one day off mid-week. Both patterns include 1 in 4 Saturday morning (8am-12pm). There is no requirement for out of hours.

Salary for this role is up to £26,000 FTE depending on experience.

About Us

We are a busy 4 Veterinary Surgeon, 3 Veterinary Nurse and 2 Animal Care Assistant RCVS accredited small animal practice with an interesting and varied case load. We are a first opinion practice that works to a high clinical standard and are always looking to improve and do the very best for all the animals in our care. We have a medicine certificate holder so perform a lot abdominal and cardiac ultrasounds, as well as in house microscopy. We are a forward thinking and friendly team who utilise nurses in all aspects of the job.

We also have vets with surgical interests so perform a wide variety of non-routine soft tissue surgeries. One of our vets is trained in veterinary acupuncture and is building a large caseload. We also have a visiting orthopaedic surgeon which allows patients to receive orthopaedic operations without having to travel afield. We have ultrasound, x-ray, very well-equipped laboratory, separate dog and cat wards and up to date anaesthetic monitoring equipment. We are located in Falkirk, which is ideally placed between both Edinburgh and Glasgow for an easy commute.

Applicant Requirements

We require a qualified, registered RVN. The position can be adapted to someone with a lot of experience or someone requiring more support. A candidate with experience in clinical coaching will be able to assist in training of student veterinary nurses. We are looking for a Veterinary Nurse who is passionate about their role and is a strong and effective communicator with a good work ethic. The successful candidate will be able to contribute to continuing to develop our great Veterinary Nursing team with support from the other experienced vet nurses.
