Role: Senior Agricultural Inspector

As an Inspector, you will be required to undertake a range of duties connected with the quality and quantity of agricultural and mineral products, including cargo inspections, sampling and compiling inspection reports. You will provide assistance to operational management as required to co-ordinate all inspection activities in a professional and efficient manner.
Key Accountabilities:
- To execute quality and quantity inspections on shipments of agricultural and mineral related commodities at various locations in UK to ensure quality and quantity results are obtained as per client’s requirements.
- To obtain representative samples as per client specific instruction or by industry best practice to ensure product integrity and quality of analysis.
- To complete accurate and timely inspection reports as required by the back-office support team for transmission to the client to verify our findings in the required timeframe.
- To perform phytosanitary examinations of grain ensuring the merchantability of the traded commodity.
- Ensure all test equipment is calibrated and adequate reference samples are utilised to ensure accuracy of results to protect clients and SGS from potential claims.
- To conduct adequate and appropriate investigations when discrepancies are noted in quality and quantity results to issue with direction of line management appropriate documentation to protect the interests of SGS and clients.
- Assist in the resolution of client enquiries in a timely and effective manner to ensure consistency of service delivery and agreed contractual obligations.
Qualifications
We require our Inspectors to have the following skills, experience and knowledge:
- Knowledge of approved trade sampling procedures in agriculture under GAFTA and FOSFA contracts.
- Ability to carry out physically demanding work, the majority of which is outdoors on a 24/7 basis.
- Effective interpersonal, teamworking and time management skills and able to wok on own initiative
- Ability to work to tight and often conflicting deadlines to meet customer requirements.
- Must be computer literate in the use of MS packages, including Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel software.
- Experience in grain sampling and testing.
- Experience in dealing with clients and quality procedures such as AIC and GAFTA
- Full UK Driving License
