Speech and Language Therapist Specialist – NHS Scotland – Larbert

We have a variety of exciting opportunities within our adult SLT team. Part time posts up to full time will be considered. We seek applications from experienced and innovative speech and language therapists to join our team in Forth Valley. We are looking for enthusiastic and flexible therapists to work with the SLT and wider multi disciplinary teams. Settings include acute medical wards, inpatient stroke rehabilitation, rapid access preventing admissions visits and the provision of slow stream bed based rehabilitation as part of a new multi disciplinary service.

Applicants must have extensive experience of working with individuals with acquired neurological conditions including stroke across the patient pathway. They must be experienced in managing dysphagia. They will be able to independently provide a full comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment/appropriate management, onward referral and discharge to a range of patients referred to the service, with support from clinical leads.

They will possess excellent communication skills and leadership qualities to support and develop others. The postholder will be working closely with a range of professionals and support workers and therefore it is essential that they can work positively as part of a team. They will mentor and support junior SLTs and SLT students.

They will work with others to develop and deliver training programmes for a range of professionals and carers. They will educate carers and significant others in the understanding of both the therapy process and any intervention relating to the management of patients medical and social needs

The post requires travel within Forth Valley, transporting therapy materials and potentially making visits to places not on direct public transport routes. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post.
